I wanted to have a way to make the puppet collection in my TK class accessible and inviting for the students in the dramatic play area. It came to me that the premade puppet stands from places like the teacher supply warehouses are expensive and not made well so I should just make one. I made a standing post and added some 3/4 inch dowel rods, sanded and finished with a clear stain and voila, it was ready to go.

With student input, I added some flannel boards for story telling, some books, posters and miniature houses (3 Little Pigs). They have really enjoyed the puppet center as it has provided a balance of fun, play, and constructive story telling that they can engage in hands-on.
